Why have I been reading news? I have putthis question to myself at many times and in various forms during the past ten years which have almost consisted half of my childhood. Have I done it because of parental influence, or because of my strong curiosity? After pondering over these questions on many occasions, I have finally reached the conclusion that like reading news not for one single reason but for many.
Originally, my parents did influence my opinions about reading news ingeneral. They usually read newspapers when I was watching animation. At thedinner time, they would always talk about news that they had already seen. The discussion was so heated so I wondered what the topic was and I wanted to join their conversation，but I didn't understand what the content was. In order to take part in their talking, I tried to read a piece of newspaper that was twice bigger than me. I hardly read the news because I was 5 years old at that time. The interesting thing was that I took the paper to my mother and asked her what the word Qiangjian (To seize and take away by force) was but she felt absolutely embarrassed because that word meant “rape”. That was my first time to read news.
Later, I began to recognize in myself a strong drive to obtain knowledge.I liked to read news not only for interest but also for learning knowledge. There are a large number of news happening worldwide every single day such as politics, sports, entertainment, and fashion in the world at large. The topics vary a lot ranging from orphans after war, gay's wives, and stay-at-home children to left-behind elderly, and everything will be shown on news. From this, I have better understanding of people from all walks of life. Learning news helps me to be more far-sighted and knowledgeable than other people at the same age. Usually, I have to explain what a thing is in a conversation. When other girls focus on cosmetic, I focus on news that Japan amends conversation. And I spend at least an hour reading news every day. If I don't do that, I am not myself.
A third reason is that I could make friends more easily because of news-reading. Topic is the most important element in a conversation. If a person obtains much knowledge, he will perform well in the fields whatever they will be talking about.
